Surveillance outdoors places special challenges on the equipment as it must be able to fulfil its duty reliably in winter at minus temperatures as well as in midsummer. An additional aspect is that outside cameras are frequently installed at locations with difficult accessibility, which makes servicing and replacement complex and expensive. Reliability is therefore even more important. When expensive follow-up costs are to be avoided, a weather-resistant housing must effectively prevent system failure due to rain, wind, air humidity, vibration and dust. VHM and VTL Housings are ideal as their IP66 protection ensures they do not become damaged due to dust penetration and even flooding by water. Models are available with a central plug, heater, cable cover, internal pre-cabling and Clear Shield Technology that prevents corrosion from environmental influences and lengthens window cleaning cycles. The coating is UV resistant, colour-neutral and does not cause transmission loss.
Simple installation
Another important factor with outdoors surveillance is for the installation to be as simple as possible: cameras that can be installed simply and quickly even very high at the top of masts and on ceilings can significantly lower installation costs. A good choice here is plug & play cameras – fully precabled – delivered with weather-resistant housing, camera module, lens and wall mount. This means for the installation engineer: unpack, bolt on, connect, finished.
For outdoors, we always recommend a day/night camera with integrated infrared illumination or external illuminator.
